Fuesmen

The School Foundation of Nuclear Medicine (FUESMEN), first PET Center of Latin America in 1991, and in 2015 the first PET NMR, is leader in South America in terms of research and development of nuclear energy and radiation applications in medicine. For this reason, it is that the management model of this pioneer center in the use of nuclear energy was replicated in San Rafael and Buenos Aires and it will soon be opening in Bariloche, Entre Ríos, Salta, Formosa, La Pampa and Jujuy as part of the National Plan of Nuclear Medicine.

Since the foundation opened the doors in 1991, with the help of the local Government, the National University of Cuyo (UNCUYO, for its Spanish abbreviation) and the Atomic Energy National Comission, it guaranteed the access to highly complex studies for patients with or without social security coverage.

FUESMEN has a Cyclotron (1 of 4 in the country), a 1.5 T High field Resonators, a Multislice Tomograph 64, a PET CT (positron emission tomography) and Accelerators of the most advanced technology in the country which make possible to practice image guided radiotherapy treatments (IGRT), a technique that allows irradiation to the patient in the specific spot without affecting healthy tissue and optimizing the dosage. In August 2015, FUESMEN acquired the first PET NMR of Latin America, being positioned again as leader in the continent. Therefore, it places Mendoza at the same height as European and US Centers. Today it is not necessary to travel abroad to receive a good diagnosis or treatment.

FUESMEN provides 32 services; assigns more than 400 daily appointments, and, has around 250 employees including doctors, engineers, physicists, biochemists, dentists, technicians and administrative staff supported by the Regional Integration Oncology Center. FUESMEN is without a doubt “A STEP AHEAD IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER, HEART AND NEUROPSYCHIATRIC DISEASES”
